The Acholi Cultural Heritage Day 2026 takes place at Gulu Municipal Grounds on Tuesday 12 May, organised by the Gulu Municipal Council Cultural Committee and the Acholi Cultural Union.
The full-day celebration features 15 traditional performing troupes, a craft and basket-weaving exhibition, a traditional food festival with locally made dishes (odii, kwon, lakur, tuo), and a photographic history of Acholi cultural practices.
Paramount Chief Rwot David Onen Acana II will officially open the event at 10 AM. Senior cultural practitioners from the diaspora (London, Toronto, Oslo) will participate virtually via a live link on the main stage screen.
The event is free and open to all. Over 10,000 attendees are expected. Mega FM is the official broadcast partner.
