Uganda's creative economy crossed a new milestone in 2025, with music export earnings reaching $28 million — a 58% increase from the $17.7 million earned in 2023 — according to a new Uganda Revenue Authority report on creative sector royalties and foreign-exchange receipts.

Streaming royalties accounted for $11.4 million of the total, up 220% from 2022, driven by Afrobeats' global surge. International performance fees contributed $9.2 million, and sync licensing (music in international film, TV and advertising) added $7.4 million. Uganda's music industry now supports an estimated 85,000 direct jobs.
