MTN Uganda has reported an 18% year-on-year increase in total revenue for the first quarter of 2026, posting UGX 1.12 trillion — driven by a 34% surge in Mobile Money (MoMo) transaction volumes and a 22% expansion in its 4G subscriber base.

CEO Sylvia Wairimu Mulinge attributed growth to MTN's "data-first" strategy and financial inclusion initiatives, including MoMo agent banking expansion in rural areas. "We have connected over 800,000 new data subscribers in Q1 alone," Mulinge said.

The company's MoMo platform processed UGX 47 trillion in transactions during the quarter. MTN Uganda's share price rose 3.4% on the USE following the announcement.
