Kampala Innovation Hub (KIH) has closed a $12 million Series A funding round led by pan-African VC firm Novastar Ventures, with participation from Standard Bank's 1nvest fund — marking the largest single venture capital raise in Uganda's startup history.
The funds will be used to expand KIH's portfolio of 47 early-stage startups in agritech, fintech and health-tech, and to open satellite hubs in Gulu, Mbarara and Jinja over the next 18 months.
"We are proving that world-class innovation can be built in Kampala," said KIH CEO Patricia Ndagire. "This investment is validation."
Uganda's startup ecosystem raised a record $89 million in 2025, up 340% from 2020.
