With the dry season upon us, agricultural extension officers from the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) share their expertise on maximising bean yields during challenging conditions.
Key recommendations: use drought-tolerant NABE varieties (NABE 15 and NABE 17), apply mulch 5cm deep to retain soil moisture, irrigate at 5-day intervals during flowering, and apply DAP fertiliser at 50kg per acre.
"Dry-season farming is entirely viable if you follow these proven methods," said Doreen Nagudi NAADS coordinator for Eastern Region.
